Okay i have a 8" jardini which is the pride and joy of my tank, he is accompanied by 3 frontosa, 1 datnoides, 1 red tail catfish, and I have spotted 2 lovely geo's across the road from me which are a decent price too. Would that combo work?

How big is the tank? That combo will need 300 plus gallons.....is your Dat very large? The Red Tail cat is gonna grow fast and eat what it wants.....maybe even Jardini!

Seems like the RTC is going to be problematic in that set-up unless the tank is just plain enormous, also the Jardini will likely become aggressive towards your other fish. You might get a lucky one but as they get bigger they usually snap.

My jardini is nice a pie, I had a giant gourami. the Red tail is just growing up in there, it will not be a perminant tank and i can move him if need be, the datnoides isnt very large but there is no fights in the tank at the moment, i basically want to know if i add to geophagus will they die? there about 4" and the red tail would never be able to eat them

My jardini is nice as pie

K well that is well and fine but the fish is eight inches long, they are notorious for changing behavior around the one foot mark. Like flipping a switch, peaceful to aggressive. Read jardini threads in the arowana section -- people come home and their peaceful jardini has killed all the fish in the tank in just one day.

Just trying to help.

First problem: RTC is going to outgrow everyone and eat them and want you to build an indoor pond for it. Get rid of it.
Second Problem: Your aro is going to turn aggressive soon. With normal tank sizes, it won't work. Either get rid of it or make it the star of your tank...(a tough pleco might work but you never know)
Third(lesser problem): Your fronts are really mild and want to be in a group of 6+ They look and do best in a species tank.

I know your trying to help, but my tank is fine at the moment I repeat this is only a grow out for the RTC and i can always sort the jardini out and get him a new tank. If my aro kills anyone I dont mind, but tbh my local fish store has chilli reds and they have them in with fronts, plus i have seen many sites and threads of jardini's with discus... My tank is fine at the moment and I will sort it out if there is any problems. All i want to know is geophagus wont upset the tank for the time being. my tank is 175 gal so its big enough for the moment

the rtc will eat the geos at some point. Ive seen pics of rtc's with fish over half their length hanging out of their mouths. They grow REALLY fast too. Id skip the geos and plan for your next tank/setup

Geos with dats and rtc? Think about sticking to getting fish from one geographic area.
