Ok, so I'm thinking I would like to try breeding EBJD's. Am I crazy? What would you say the minimum tank size would be? Any advise would be welcomed.

I am am also trying the same just watch who u buy your stock from.
And I would say a 30 or 40 breeder. Good luck with breeding well that's what I plan to use.

Imo minimum tank should be nothing smaller then a 75. They gunna need elbow room once they start getting 6"+ . A 40 breeder would be ok for a pair 6" and under. The bigger the better.

Breeding two EBJDs will not produce EBJD fry. All fry will be normal. In order to breed EBJD you have to breed a male EBJD to a regular female JD.

Before you give advice to others, maybe you should have some idea what youre talking about

LOL our you should know your place. You're new here shouldn't be calling people out without knowing any of them. Especially whens he's right. You need an ebjd to spawn with a regular jd to get bgjd then you breed a bgjd with an ebjd to get ebjd fry .....

I need to spark up my fish life

Ive been breeding both jds and ebjds for years. The statement i responded to was at best vague and incomplete. No hard feelings meant, not trying to cause trouble

Oh my god. I'm sorry, but oh my god.

Runitis just because someone is new doesn't mean they know nothing, and in this case obviously that's the case. bradco25 is completely right.

joe haskot, breeding EBJD and EBJD won't produce normal fry - they won't produce viable EBJD fry either, or at least no one have managed it (I'm assuming that's what OP's trying to attempt).

Breeding an EBJD and a normal JD won't produce EBJDs. Breeding a BGJD with a BGJD or EBJD would.

In fact, here's the breeding chart for electric blue, gold and normal Jacks:

----------------------
So these are all the potential mixtures (Genotype /// Phenotype)
BBxBB = 100% BB /// 100% 'normal' coloration
BBxBb = 50% BB, 50% Bb /// 100% 'normal' coloration
BBxbb = 100% Bb /// 100% 'normal' coloration
BbxBb = 25% BB, 50% Bb, 25% bb /// 75% 'normal' coloration, 25% electric blue coloration
Bbxbb = 50% Bb, 50% bb /// 50% 'normal' coloration, 50% electric blue coloration
bbxbb = Lethal cross /// All (most) die off at egg/fry stage
BBxBg = 50% BB, 50% Bg /// 100% 'normal' coloration
BBxgg = 100% Bg /// 100% 'normal' coloration
BgxBg = 25% BB, 50% Bg, 25% gg /// 75% 'normal' coloration, 25% gold coloration
Bgxgg = 50% Bg, 50% gg /// 50% 'normal' coloration, 50% gold coloration
ggxgg = 100% gg /// 100% gold coloration
BgxBb = 25% BB, 25% Bb, 25% Bg, 25% bg /// 75% 'normal' coloration, 25% mixed electric blue - gold coloration
Bgxbb = 50% Bb, 50% gb /// 50% 'normal' coloration, 50% mixed electric blue - gold coloration
ggxBb = 50% Bg, 50% gb /// 50% 'normal' coloration, 50% mixed electric blue - gold coloration
ggxbb = 100% gb /// 100% mixed electric blue - gold coloration
bgxbg = Unknown /// Unknown
