So original stock was as follows:
8 heckelii
12 rh taps
6 blue acara
30 black neon tetras
12 bleeding heart tetras
12 rainbow fish
+ plecos which will be staying.
The heckelii + rh taps + BA have all put on anywhere from 1-1.5" of growth in the last 2 months. The biggest one is a heckelii around 4". I'm getting ready to do the first round of stock thinning after picking up some eggcrate thanks to suggestions in this thread, and wondered what a good number for the next grow-out phase would be. I plan to get rid of all the bleeding heart tetras and rainbow fish - they just don't jive as well as we wanted them to. Have a LFS willing to do store credit so that works out fine. I also have a proven pair (2 spawns so far) of BA so will be dropping that number down to 2 as well and keeping that pair. The heckelii haven't hit a point as of yet where they have shown any aggression to each other. This is what I was thinking of stock left over after this first thinning out process:
(all ranging from 3-4")
6 heckelii
8 Rh taps
2 BA
30 Black neon tetras
+ plecos
L027 xingu (7" current)
green pantom (5" current)
para plec (4" current)
redfin speckled plec (2" current)
sunshine plec (6" current)
My main question here is should I drop the number of heckelii more now, or wait til they get a bit larger, and aggression becomes a factor.
