!!!56k dial-up WARNING!!!

Welp...I am getting more busier and busier with my classes, I have no choice but to sell my beloved dragons to other hobbyists who can take care for these exotic creatures. Please read throughly if you don't understand what a Bichir is.

Up for sale are 6 of the rarest Dragon Bichirs. These are RARELY found in pet stores because of they are only caught and imported from Africa - captive breeding in fish distribution centers are rare. These are FRESHWATER animals and considered a rarity in the hobby. They live in total water and come up occasionally for air. Their diet mainly consists of fishes, bugs, and any other meat form in the wild.

Why are they called Dragons (Bichir)?

Silky scales, sharp fins, crimson tail, vibrant eyes, majestic propellers , intelligent character, and clever hunting methods.

Why are they rare and expensive?

They are rare because it's hard to breed them in captivity. Not only that, the young babies are cannibals so a very strict attention is needed. Most of these animals are imported from Africa's wild rivers. The tiny baby ones in the local fish store sell a 3 inch baby for $20. Adults goes over hundreds.

The Bichirs came from my 100 gallon Bichir tank setup. The water is of pH of 7.3-8.1, water change every 2 weeks of 10% and a strict diet of live foods with a monthly treat of Floating pellets.

Caring for them is EASY.

They don’t require frequent water changes, no need for special setups, water quality doesn’t really matter as long as their water is clear or applicable. They aren’t picky about what food is given.

They do not need attention as any other rare fishes. They breathe air and can be taught to eat from the hand.

How big do they grow?

Their average size is around 16” and biggest (Ornate[black]) is around 26”. I would suggest a fish tank of 55 gallons - minimum.

What do I feed it?

Feeder goldfishes, guppies (too tiny), rosy reds (minnows), market shrimp, fine cut meats, anything of fresh meat.

Prices:

Polypterus ornatipinnis ADULT(12"+) - $120 o.b.o "Black Dragon"
Polypterus ornatipinnis Juvenile(5"+) - $35
Polypterus delhezi ADULT (8"+) - $50 "The Tiger of the Dragon"
Polypterus delhezi Juvenile (5"+) - $35
Polypterus senegalus Albino ADULT (9"+)- $50 "White Dragon"
Polypterus senegalus Albino Juvenile (6"+) -$40

I seen my local fish store, they sell a bunch of Polypterus senegalus Albino Juvenile for like $8-15 a piece..

Are they really that rare? i wonder...

nope, insanely un-rare. every single one of those can be had for less then $40 a piece. senegals for $5 if you get a good deal, delhezi for around $20 and ornates for $30-$40 depending on size.
