I highly recommend this product called Algaefix from Aquarium Pharmaceuticals. This product controls algae growth and if your tank is really bad then try this great product.

What about if you keep plants? I have some black hair algea that I would like gone it's under control but not gone. I have plants and algea killers normaly hurt plants.

I like AlgaeFix. I use it and it works great!

BTW, similar to Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Melafix and Pimafix, AlgaeFix is safe for plants. No need to worry!
