Only if you have a tank that is smaller than 72", Most tanks are 72.25" if they are a 6' long tank. So for 100 longs, 125, 135 and up watch out on your measurements.
I built a stand for a 240 based loosely on these plans about 9 months ago. I already had 4x4's for the framing, so that part was free. Ended up being way overbuilt, and incredibly heavy. Hell, I could park my pickup on that thing! It ain't going nowhere! 
Better overbuilt than underbuilt. extra 4x4's would really help, and be nice. But you can build tank stands under 300 without any problem out of 2x4's.
