I found this video on youtube of a 400l tank (about 105 gallons) and he has about 6 oscars in it and an amazing aqua scape! I wish I could do this with my 150 gallon 4'x2'x31". Little different stock but same idea. Is this just because he overstocked the SA cichlids and so he can get away with out having to many territorial issues? Would I be able to pull of the same thing with my tank dimensions? The difference in my tank would be that I would have a Pearsei instead of a Salvani.

The more and more I watch this video the tank looks much bigger... I might ask him on the size. Looks more like a 180g?

The tank is bigger or the fish are nowhere near full grown.

Also your suggestion of keeping a pearsei in a 400 litre is not a good one at all. They grow massive, generally even bigger than most oscars. They are are also fairly active fish. Don't torture one in a 4'x2' footprint tank.

The Pearsei would only be in the 150 for a year or so then moved to a 220+. I have a Oscar, 3 pearsei and fire eel in my 150 but then plan to upgrade to a 220+. I wouldn't keep that stock in a 150 long term...

Tank definately looks much larger than 100 gallons.

On a side note, the overstocking principle used with african cichlids doesn't really work so well with SA/CE cichlids. It might work for awhile with more docile species like oscars, but even then due to the sheer size of most SA/CE cichlids, minor quarrels can be quite an event with alot of drama. Filtration would have to massive....
