yours is one of the biggest I've ever seen but thats contrary to what I've reading everywhere saying that these guy's grow between 32'' and 39'' + in so whats up with that do they not reach size in captivity or are they longer lived and captives we'er seeing are still just babys ?????????? anyone?????

I think they just grow slower in captivity but i have a few that grow fast so maybe its each fish has a different max growth size?

I am sure diet and size of tank will help as well.

P. endli. endli. are believed to reach about 30" in the wild (the 39" that you read is definitely not for endli. endli.). In captivity, probably around 24". But depending on the individual genes, diet, tank space, etc, typically expect 18"-24" in captivity.

so yes in general they do not reach wild max as with most bichir species (and keep in mind those are MAX recorded size in the wild, so even wild specimens may not always reach that size).

i have one endli that went from 19 to 20 inches in 6 months.

i have another endli that went from 16 to 20 in the same time.

but the good news is that the wild max size may not be the largest attainable.............its only a measure of what has be caught so far and recorded :):headbang2
