Some friends asking me about how to feed small and/or juvenile Tiger Eel/True Freshwater Moray Eel (Gymnothorax Polyuranodon).
Many has reported that their eel refused to eat for weeks, even months.
The key is to watch the behavior of the eel.
If the eel behaves like this, he is not hungry. You see that he let a live shrimp pass peacefully overhead. So that is a sign that he is not hungry. No matter what food you offer, he will not eat. However, letting live shrimp and small fishes like mollies and cichlids are good way to stimulate the senses of your eel and eventually his hunting instincts will kick in.
If the eel behaves like this, he is hungry. See that he tried to find and chase the cichlid. It means he is hungry and are trying to find food.
At younger age and small size, the favorite food for Gymnothorax Polyuranodon are bloodworms. As you observe that he is getting hungry, plunge some bloodworms NEAR his home/cave. You will eventually see him eating, exactly in the manner of a snake.
Hope this helps!
