Well i had to make another rescue today. An albino oscar that had been in a 10 gallon tank with, get this, NO filtration! thats right, not a single filter on there.

idk how it was still alive, as the owner said he just completely ignored it for the past half a year besides an occasional feeding. thats right, no water changes. the guy is around a year old i'm guessing and around 4"......:irked:

its a shame because although his colors aren't very good, i'm betting if he was taken better care of he would have looked amazing by now.

grrrrr damn all those people with monsters in 10 gallons!

idk how it survived as long as it did, but there was no way i was leaving it to die. if it survived that, it deserves a better life by now!

edit: just checking up on the guy, and he seems to be lethargic and having a hard time swimming.....i'm guessing he isn't used to being able to swim much and also he isn't used to nitrates in the 20's instead of the undoubtably 100's

Well this is testament of two things. One, that fish is a tank. Two, people as a whole are dumb.

Wow, 4'' thats a first. I'm sure he/she is in way better conditions now.

I think you should have took the old water with you to prevent pH sock and new tank syndrome.

Anyways, got any pictures?

I've done the no filter thing and am doing it right now with my clown plecos because their filter stopped working yesterday after a water change.
No filter and no/ reduced water changes , now that isn't going to go over well.
Kudos for saving a pet fish in trouble.
