I dont know how it would react to brackish or salt water, i imagine fine because my friend has a slat filter pool, I just use black tahitian moon sand and cover the bottom of the berlin sump with crushed coral to buffer the ph at 8.2 in the brackish water.

I'm looking into growing out a Fahaka in a 55g. I want to do pool filter sand, some tall fake plants, and a centerpiece of driftwood. What should my water be like?

You need at least a 150 gallon tank for a Fahaka and you will need the ph to be neutral if it will be in fresh. Add some deco so the puffer can cruise around and investigate. They like to check out their surroundings and have something to do, fahakas are not as active as the Takifugu but he may still uproot any plants live or fake. They also like areas to feel secure and to hide.
