I work for the second largest waste removal company in the country,i am a truck driver,i have been there for 3 yrs,2 monthes ago i was given a "promotion"wich means i get a bigger route,with a laborer.The guy who held this job prior gave it up cause he couldnt handle it anymore(he is fat and lazy,just my opinion)so i got it.Recently i found out that this guy is a drinking buddy of my Boss and he has been crying that he wants this job back,(my current route).I missed 1 street in 2 monthes(wich is nothing,as i do up to 3000 homes a week)Well i was brought into the office and got yelled at and cursed at for about a half hr.I was also told that if i miss anymore streets i would go back to my old job.Wich is pretty funny as everyone in my company is always behind on thier routes.Then i hear through the grapevine that this guy is walking around saying he is getting his old job back.This is a non union job,and for anyone who cares the company is called Allied Waste,formally known as B.F.I.I am thinking about calling Head quarters and putting in a grievance,but am worried about reprocutions,what do you guys think that i should do??:WHOA:

It may be non union, but it's a large corporation. Anything with the word "legal" and "laywer" in a sentance will scare them. I work for a large theme park company and they will bend over backwards if those words are mentioned. Report it to HR. Favortism in a large company or any other work environment is BS.

:ROFL: I worked for a private company called EMADCO ( means Eastern MAdera COunty) For over 12 tears picking up trash BY HAND and when my MRI report came and said my shoulder was torn up they just said "take it easy". Taking it easy took too long so I got chewed out until my leftshoulder went out and after 2 surgeries later I'm. well. no longer employed. My point: Don't get hurt.. (yeah, well:ROFL: )

your on the way out, heres how you fire someone, first is the verbal, then a written warning, the third time you "miss a street" you can be fired. at that point you will have little recourse. Plus this has to be stressing you out and who doesnt make mistakes, i screw 10 things up a day. so my advise would be to first talk to your boss, if no results and you get the written, then you have nothing to lose by contacting corporate. Ive been in corparate america i know how this stuff works. document everything you can, if he fires you without the written you can sue him.

just noticed you been there only 2 months, there is usually a probationary period of usually 60 to 90 days where they can fire you for little or no reason.

You should get a little extra credit. Pick up my garbage this weekend. LOL

Sorry you work for a douche.

That depends on the state your in.I found out last year PA is a free will state{an employer does not have to give reason to fire you/does not have to give you breaks.ETC....}

If you go to corp HQ it may get back to your boss even tho they are supposed to keep stuff confidentle

Me i go in do my 12 straight go home get my check keep my mouth shut and ears open

Do what you gotta do

A lot of places now a days are making new employees sign a "termination at will" which is kind of lame. Pretty much saying that they can fire you for no reason, but at the same time, you can quit on the spot for no reason. The state makes a law that says you can't get fired for no reason and companies makes these contracts that you HAVE TO sign if you want to work for them. :irked:

What's the worst that's going to happen? getting your old job back?

Jobs usually aren't fair, and IMO working for corporations usually sucks because they're usually cut throat, worry about stock prices/investors more than employees. All I can say is keep quiet for now. IF you get put back in your old job then deal with it and/or find something else. It's waste managment, not the end of the world.
