my florida gar........poor fish spent entirely too much of his life in a 75g. i took him from that owner and put him in my 6'x3' tank.

only has one eye, and has a jacked up mouth. still seems to enjoy life

He's wonderful! Congrats for giving him a better home!

I have a one-eyed gar, as well... it's a very special club we're in :D. Please let us know if you get him off of live. I've been trying for over a year with Lucky, and have had no success, whereas my other two love pellets. If you can, I'd love to know how you did it.

fish was being punished with cat treats as food when i rescued. i have him eating smelt and market shrimp now.

i would like to think that a bit of starvation would break these fish. but you must be stronger than the fish. i know that i did not see this one eat for at least 3 weeks after rescueing. then one day it started to eat smelt.

i dont have much luck with pellets and any of my predetors.......dont really see the need to force the issue as shrimp and smelt work out just fine.......oh and tilapia and pollok fillets too.

Yeah, unfortunately none of that has worked for us. He went a very, very long time, and I finally couldn't take it anymore.

I adopted him, so it's my responsibility to QT the stupid feeders for him, but he's the only fish I have to do feeders with, so it sucks.... Maybe it's not the one-eye thing. Maybe he's just not going to do it!

Definetly a nice pic!!!

I too have a 1 eyed Florida Gar. Courtesy of a lil bastid Silver Dat.

It is a nice shot. I like it.
