i have had a electric catfish for several month now and it's about 5-6 inches. so far, it's been doing fine alone in a 10g tank, but i want to keep it with my other tropical fishs in a 75g tank. i used a feeder fish for several days to test and see if the catfish would kill its tankmate, but nothing happened. today, i decided to put it in with my bgk, angel, bichir and etc. hopefully, it wont decide to kill any of them. :nutkick:

I've never heard anything good about electric catfish and tankmates...just don't be surprised if he does kill them.

hes good need a larger tank than that...and eventually they will probably die

I also predict doom.

Try synodontis cats for tankmates, they aren't bothered by the electricity.

Definitely keep the electric cat. Way cooler than almost anything in the world. I'd trade in most of my 55g stocklist for a little electric. Then I'd build a tropical pond for it. :D

Yes, for about five minutes. Then one of them is likely to snack on the other.

just out of curiousity... does anyone know if bluecrawfish can be kept with them??

I fed a 4-5" electric cat a 2" crayfish...he downed it in about two seconds flat. I'm really not trying to be negative, but these are definitely fish kept best in a species only tank. They seem to be very sensitive to movement in the water and they know exactly where potential food is lurking. Maybe you could divide a tank for it?
