i was just wondering if this is normal. My fish swims through the bubbles and trys to bite it alot or he'l sometimes bite the tank?? he also sometimes just sits at the bottom of the tank and when i com near it he'l swim away then do the same thing as i leave.?? my water perams were off but im finially getting it on track few days ago nitrite is up just a tad bit and nitrate is normal and ammon; 0. any coments would help. Tom

hmmm mine does nothing like that. had him from about 2" he is about 5" now. i added some slate that goes all the way to the top in a corner of my tank and he chills there most of the time. they are very neat to watch.
they are practicing being arowanas and pretending they are attacking something... as long as he is eating good...swimming good... and occasional nap on the floor bottom is fine... that means they are relaxed in their environment... my 7 year old arow lays around all the time... and also bites at nothing there... lol
Just having the aro not swimming but still at the top is a bad thing. Resting or lying on the bottom is not a good thing either.
They don't know what bubbles are yet. I'd call it the equivalent of teething for a baby person. They are learning the trade.
i used to joke that i had the world's only bottom dwelling arowana.. he would lay on the bottom of the tank almost all day long.. come up to the top when i dropped in food.. or sometimes he would just lay around and wait for the food to fall down to him.
never saw anything wrong with him.. so i went and got 3 more arowana his size.. from the same guy i got him from. and after about a month he started hanging around with the other aros at the top of the tank.
so i wouldn't say it's normal.. but i guess like any animal, they all have their own personalities and some just like the bottom of the tank. my guy still sits on the bottom of the tank now and then, but he spends most of his time now on the top of the tank with the other aros.

So true! People like to characterize fish base on the majority, an forget about exceptional. When your tank has substrate and decoration, some aros like to stay on the bottom to chill, and comes up once in a while to exercise, or get food
Just like some aro like to take food at the top, and some like to pick them up from the bottom
