this pike cichlid good or not

Pretty sure they are not Pike cichlids but African Lake Tanganyika . I had a pair of these long time ago and found they breed like Convicts and look after fry for months even when new fry appear they stay in mixed size groups!! They get 3 to 4 " and are great to watch but put plenty of caves on as they love to dissapear for days
 
can i get some info on sexing ?
 
mine is quite small and very colorfull
 
I got 4 and it was 2 pairs the way i did it was by watching them closely and females have backward pointing tube at back male have forward or straight tube , But i spent hrs trying to see and they would not stay still !!! They paired up quickly so you would not have long to wait if pairs there
