The pictures didn't work.
When you want to post a picture hosted elsewhere, first type this:
After you've typed that, paste the location of the image. To get this, right click on the picture and select 'view image' and copy the URL from the address bar of your browser. Paste this behind the [img] bracket with no spaces. You'll note that for the purpose of this exercise I'm using facebook as well.

After you've pasted the URL, close the img brackets by typing [/i_mg] WITHOUT the space that I put there. I intentionally put the _ in to prevent the forum from trying to find an image and messing up my post.

Once again, don't include the _ in the closing bracket.
If you do it correctly, you'll see an image:
