Well, for those of you that tuned in for the DorODOE experiment, I'm happy to say that experiment was a complete success. There was never ANY issues, torn or tattered fins, and absolutely zero aggression between the foot long Frankie and the half dozen Odoe.

The Dorado has been rehomed. I kept the Angry one, and the passive Dorado now resides with RobG.

So, since I've already started a new experiment I figured it's time to share the last experiment (I'm always one ahead lol), which the Odoe are participating in......

I've acquired a large VATF and introduced it and the Odoe to my 750 at the same time.

Will the ATF kill the Odoe? Will the Odoe realize the threat and kill the ATF?

Will the Odoe and ATF all huddle together in the corner hoping that Robert leaves them alone? Will all these new additions push the wolves over the edge and into a killing frenzy?

I have my hunches as to what will happen, but that's irrelevant, I'm more curious in what YOU GUYS think will happen????

Its rely tough to guess when i havent rely been able to study everyones temperament like you have...

If anything i would guess that the vatf might not play well with others. But he will be the new commer...

I'm thinking the odoe wont harm the ATF not sure about vice versa but Robert and the ATF might end up scrapping due to being pelagic open water apex predators and some similar behavior and appearance, but that's just my opinion i can only speculate lol GL with the comm those are some very nice fish 👍

My observations on everyone's temperament is so far from the stereotypical temperaments that studying them would probably just add to the confusion...... I know it's confused me, that's why the experiments are so fun......

It all depends on if the ATF is the alpha of the tank or not. If he is the alpha then he will assert his dominance and give others a slash or love tap once in awhile. If he's not then he will leave everyone alone and cower in the corner.

I've had many leader changes in my tank. If the dominate alpha jumps out, commits suicide or gets removed then another will take over.

This is along the same lines I've been seeing over the years. Seems like as long as there's a bigger fish in the tank many of these predatory Characins seem to play nice......

Unfortunately IF I'm right on this Robert will start running a muck soon..... I had a bit of a falling out with the girl friend over this so to prove my point I sold the 2 "peace keepers" I had, the giant lemon finned barb and the huge Brycon. I don't think Lucy (the Lacerdae) is active enough to be a peace keeper, as the Brycon and Barb always swam along side Robert. The day they left Robert began pacing the tank faster. The girlfriend is thinking Lucy will be enough of a presence to keep the peace. I really hope she's right......

This ATF is bigger then Robert by an inch or so, but the ATF seems intimidated already......

This experiment will determine which direction I go with all the ATF grow outs, more then anything an experiment to see how the Dorado, Aimara, and Lacerdae accept ATF before throwing my Tanzies in there.

That VATF looks like a beast! The size difference in favor of the VATF should actually be a big help in this working out IMO. I think the fact that there's a pack of odoe in there should help keep the vittatus at bay, and I don't think they're really small enough compared to him for them to be considered prey food yet. Should be interesting to see how the dorado and ATF play together once they're all acclimated to each other.
