Picked up these two fish today, very nice and sparkly. My initial impression was either Eliotti or sp. Mixteco blue.

Not really much of an expert with Thorichthys so I thought one of you guys could give me an ID so i know what to expect, they are in my 120 right now with juvenile geos and other non aggressive cichlids.
Both fish look to be developing a peach colored underside.

Look like young maculipinnis

Yeah thats what my first instinct was and I`m starting to think thats probably the best guess. I didn`t pay very much for them because they came in as firemouth. there was however only a few that did come in so I just grabbed a couple. I do like T. Meeki a lot but I saw these fish had some potential and I`m excited to see how they turn out.

Thats a Thorichthys Meeki commonly known as the Firemouth Cichlid... Showing signs of some nice red colors in the cheeks aswell. Thorichthys maculipinnis has much more yellow towards the head at that size and larger blue blotches

That's what I was thinking. Its a very nice firemouth. Depending where the firemouth was collected, the colors will vary. Some have more red, some have more blue, some have more of an orange color instead of red, and then there are the black meeki.
