Thorichthys pasionis up close in sunlight pics

Cichlids always look best in natural light IMO. My house faces directly east so I get a lot of sun in the morning. Took some pics of the pasionis because they have been showing more red lately.
Also included robertsoni.

Gorgeous. How is that firemouths are the only commonly kept species from this genus? Seems like all the other thorichthys are more colorful.

Thanks, not sure. Meeki can be just as colorful though IMO.
Speaking of meeki I moved my pair to a tank by themselves and they spawned. A week after I moved them. Hoping the eggs hatch today or tomorrow.

Easily one of my favorite thorichthys species.

Edit: would the red have something to do with spawning? This red is new. The other two don’t have it.
