Altering my stocklist on the 55g planted I started a month ago.

1x Thorichthys meeki (definitely female)
1x Thorichthys maculipinnis (unsure of sex, but is very colorful at only 1.5")
1x Convict (super colorful female)
8x Tiger barbs

I want to add a Thorichthys pasionis as well...

Anyone else share a love for these CA cichlids? I will post pics of the tank when I get home.

I've kept thorichthys ellioti & meeki... very nice fish...

I wouldn't adivse a "Thorichthy tank" though, as these are not colony fish. They do not appreciate each others company unless it is with a mate. Mixing sexes is the best way to avoid/minimize aggression but this would result in hybridization...

I think you would be much much better off keeping a breeding pair of each species in different tanks. Or a pair of one species in a large tank with other suitable tankmates.

I have my Elliote pair in a 125 gal with a breeding group of Geos and a pair of Dempseys. It works very well for me.

Hmmm, so too much aggression for the 55g? If that's the case then I will skip out on the T. Pasionis and just keep the tank where it's at now. Thanks for the input! With my recent move I downgraded from a 150g to a 55g so it would be easier to pay my new mortgage. I hated losing the tank I built, but a bigger house in a nicer neighborhood was worth it.

I'd still love to see pictures of the types of Thorichthys that people have here.

I have 1 6'' maculipinnis. It killed off the other 2.....
