Is a 75 gallon tank large enough? And will a jag get along with a semi-large catfish? It's a featherfin syno.

To the first question, a 75 gallons is good as a minimum for a male. To the others, I am not certain.

Although some are going to disagree with me, I think a full grown male jag needs a 6' tank minimum. A full grown female would probably be ok. It took a few years for my jag to get 13" so you might have some time to upgrade.

75 will not work for life for a male or female. 90 for a female.

Thanks. I was starting to think that they might be too big of a fish for that size of a tank. . . oh well.

If you like Parachromis, you should look into a motaguense or loisellei. Both are awesome fish but don't get as big as managuense.

Is it pretty difficult to track down a motaguense? Those are cool looking fish!

Yeah go with a red tiger motaguense, while the jags could live in the 75 for a while, its just that they woudl really fluorish in a bigger tank.

i see you are from fort collins. Mike's Killer Fish in Denver has some red tiger motos. That would be my choice. They're a little pricey (around 45 for a 6"er), but they're nice. Check out this list and see if there's anything you like (quite a few other cichlids that would work in a 75): http://www.mikeskillerfish.com/stocklist.htm

What size tank do Tilapia buttekoferi and Paratilapia need?
