Those of you with sun/eclipse cats

How fast are your guys's growing? i have a tiny 2" guy and i just picked up a nice 6-8" specimin and i'm wondering how long i have till i need to get a 2' wide tank. i know they max out at up to 18" (although i've never really heard of an 18" suncat in aquaria) and both of them are gunna want that bigger tank asap, but i'm just wondering how much time i'm going to have and how fast i can expect them to grow.

What size tank is yours in?

My suncat is a short body so he doesnt do much growing. The only real growing he does is he gets wider lol. Hes about 7 inches and probaly wont put on another inch.

Right now he is in a 55 with other grow-out occupants. this summer there is going to be a good upgrade, 150gallons+ depending on availability and dimensions, so he'll be fine but i'm just wandering about the growth rate. any picks of your SB?

Mine have gone from 2" to 5-6" in about 6 months. I think 12" is more of whay you'll see in the home aquarium.

my dad has one in his 125 and it has gone from around 3" to 6 in a couple months, but it has now reached a point where it is just growing wider than longer. Mine has grown like an inch, and i got mine the same time as my dad.

I've got one that is 3 years old and he's only 8"

perhaps i should believe Baensch instead of planetcatfish....acording to that source sun's only get to around 12" max which i have to say i've seen none bigger.

still from the looks of my 7" cat 12" may be all i can handle of the guy lol.

seems good for a 150+ in terms of catfish with a small shoal of fourline pictus and a couple of suncats
