Those Tiny Tiny Black Hermit Crabs.

Those tiny tiyn hermit crabs i see at the fish store, that all come in like tiny black twirly long type shells...

they are very tiny.. and theres an entire tank full of them for sale..

i was wondering if those tinys ones every grow too big and i know this might sound stupid, cuz i know hermit crabs needs a bunch of shell sin the tank when they grow bigger, but i was wondering, if these guys need to have shells in that tank to switch around with just like a land hermit. i dunno where to fidn shells that size, they are pretty small.. lil crabs.

Any one know anythign about them, i dunno the name i know they are pretty cheap.. about 2.88 each? =^_^=
 
well besides clean up crew lol, anything else?

are you sure they weren;t blue and blacke striped? the most common hermits on the market are blue legged hermits.. they stay pretty small the largest ones i have are just inder and inch..

and yes they do require new shells :)
 
um not sure what their called to be honest i just tried putting two and two together cuz, the ones at the store the name of the crab where the lable is like scartched off =D and all i cud see was the price lol.

The crabs are like very tiny, and i figured they wud be the blue leg hermit cuz they attack cirith snails.. and in that same tank i found cirith snails. and the shells that those crabs in that tank occupied were cirith snails =^___^= so im guesing it wud be blue hermit, i dont think it wud be the red. aNd these tiny crabs dont grow that big.

As for their shells i wonder wher ei wud find empty shells that small that ARENT occupied already 0_o the only shells we have in the store are.. umm big turbo snail ones or smaler ones but are still way too big for those tiny hermit crabs. =S

Also... would these crabs be a problem with feather duster worms? =^___^=? i dont think so, but just to be safe ill ask here =D
 
they'll be safe with the worms..

in the tank should be a few empties if you could ask someone to grab a few.. and any store worth their salt (no pun intended) should have an assortment of sized shells...

Might be red tipped hermit crabs. You can go to a super store like wal mart and go to the arts and crafts section to buy those little shells for cheap, they worked for me, just got to wash them first. 2.88 seems expensive for tiny hermits, try going to some internet sites that sell cleaners for cheaper.
 
hmm ill give those a try those walmart shells if i decide to buy some blue leg hermits! Im glad it worked for you! alot easier then going tiny shell hunting =^___^=
