How important is water hardness? I know they prefer soft water but will they do ok in hard water? The reason I'm asking is because I've kept mine in soft water and he has been all over the place, constantly begging for food etc.. This past weekend when I did my 50% water change in his tank I had forgotten to fill my water softener (a few days prior) so hard water was put back into the tank as opposed to the soft water he's accustomed to. Ever since he has been very sluggish and I have to literally place food right at his mouth to get him to eat. So could the switch to medium hard water cause this kind of impact?
