The living room carpet was soaked this morning when I got my daughter up for school. All around my 35 gallon looked like a swamp. The water level was down about 4 inches!:WHOA:

Of course hubby was home (had a job close to home so he left for work later than usual) and threw a S**T fit! Just another reason now for him to hate my hobby!:irked:

Got the shop vac out and cleaned up the water, have a big box fan blowing over the carpet right now to help dry it out.

The good news? It wasn't my tank. The bad news: It was my XP 1.

The other bad news: I dropped the frigging filter on my way to the sink (to take it apart and see what the heck was going on) and the motor housing/top cracked and a chunk broke off. :nilly:

This is going to be a good day....NOT!

OH.. Do you think a heavily planted 35 gallon tank will be OK without a filter for a few days? I have an extra HOB but if I don't really want to dig it out of storage.

i would dig up that HOB filter and put it on for acouple of days until you can get the xp 1 fixed or replaced

Well, I guess I really should get that HOB out, after all my discus is in that tank.

You are going to need to do more water changes than normal. Take all of the media out of the XP1, but it in a media bag or a panty hose in the filter or by the filter for max flow. You do not want to loose all of your bacteria.
