I know Red terror's can get pretty large and a 75 isnt exactly the greatest size tank for them but i only have a 75 gallon other than my 220 but i have my umbees in that so my question is, is it possible to raise a pair of these red terrors in a 75 gallon. im thinking i would get a group of them arund the 3 to 4" range and than separate them as they grew and became aggressive. If these wont work what other fish that are of the larger species would be cool and work well in a 75? i have a bunch of peacock/haps but im not as big of a fan as i am of the larger fish like umbees, festaes, viejas, red tiger motas, trimacs, etc. let me know what your thoughts and ideas are. thanks!

A 75 isn't enough room for a pair but a single individual maybe. Most of the larger cichlids won't be a safe pair in a 75 but most can be a single specimen. I'd recommend a single vieja. I'm devoting my 90 to my female Blackbelt once she grows some more

i only held on to the 75 because i was raising discus at the time and aging water since the winters in minnesota get so cold and was doing large every day water changes on the tank so aging water for a 125 at the time wasnt in the picture haha. maybe i will just make the tank into either a cool planted with driftwood and all that south american tank with some geos. i really like the redheads. i have some real nice haps/peacocks and some blue dolphins so maybe ill grow out a group and get some pairs for the 75. wish i had a bigger place and the funds to run more tanks haha and able to afford a bigger tank.

A 75 gal is 18 inch wide. I have confusing info about the maximum size of a male Festae, ranging from 12 inch to 20 inch. So if it is no bigger than 18 inch, it should be fine. However, Festae is not known to be an interactive fish like Dovii or Midas, and may not do well as a single wet pet.

Who said that? It all depends on the personality of the fish. When I had my breeding pair in my 75 this is what i saw when ever someone say on the couch. ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1392999593.182047.jpg

My male Festae is one of the most interactive fish we keep and we keep Amphs, jags, Pearsei.

75 could house a male for awhile but larger tank would be much appreciated later. The one in the avatar is around 13-14".
