Here's a link to an article about some very recent rule changes such as limiting endzone celebrations, tightening up the horsecollar rule and not allowing pass rushers to hit a QB below the waste (brought on by the Carson Palmer injury in the playoffs), reduction in time allowed for reviews as well as down by contact calls are now reviewable (a good thing imo).

anyway, to the free agency:

my biggest surprises have been Culpepper to Miami and even moreso Drew Brees to N.O. I think the Saints/Brees signing will really change a lot of things about the draft. Most experts were predicting N.O. to take Leinart in the draft, but now they can trade down a little bit and take someone else and maybe pickup an extra draft pick or another player in the process.

I really hope Edgerrin James does well in Arizona and I think they could be a force to reckon with next year. Especially if they can somehow trade up and get a good QB in the draft. Warner is on his way out but a year or 2 with him could do a lot of good for a young QB.

I'm also really looking forward to the Bengals this year especially if they can make a contract deal with Lavar Arrington who seems to be interested in signing with them.

things don't look good for the Colts this year (my hometown team) after losing the Edge, a really tough schedule and they also lost a couple key defensive players (larry Tripplet and David Thornton). I'm hoping they'll try to trade up in the draft to try and get someone to replace James, but they're also gonna need a little more help at LB too.

The NFC East will probably be the toughest and most exciting division this coming year. The Redskins have made several big FA signings as have the Giants and Cowboys (T.O.). The Eagles should be getting a healthy McNabb plus they've signed a couple good Free agents.

these are just a few of my thoughts so far and I'm really, really looking forward to the draft. I'd love to see Vince Young go to either Baltimore (who has shown interest in him and have talked about trying to trade up) or Arizona (imagine Young, Edge and their WR tandem). :D

QB need to get hit.... these rules are getting a bit to much

QB are coddled enough, they are football players, let em get hit. The celebration rule is garbage. I really looked forward to watching Chad Johnson celebrate. Go Cowboy's!!!!

I agree that some of the rules to protect QB's are a bit excessive, but I'm all for this one. hopefully it will reduce the "cheap shots" that are season ending. they're not sure Carson Palmer will be ready to begin the next season because of the low hit by Kimo von Oelhoffen (sp?).

I do think the officials go too far sometimes with the "if you're more than 2 steps away from the QB when he throws the ball then you must avoid hitting him". also I do think that some QB's do a nice acting job to get this penalty. this rule could definitely stand to be tweaked, but again I'm all for this new "low hit" rule.

:)

The Colts really scare me this year. I don't know what they are planning on doing with all of their offseason moves. I don't think that they have improved at all as a team. My prediction as of right now, would be that the Colts will be lucky to win 10 games this season. The defense better have some good back ups and we won't have a running game to stop a pass rush. All of our games this year are going to look like the San Diego game, with Manning on his back.

As far as the rule changes....I really don't understand limiting td celebrations. People pay a lot of money to see a great game and a decent show. I though that it was fine they way it was, as long as no other team members join in, then it is all good.

JD_Man, with the Colt's schedule this year if they don't miraculously pick up a great running back in the draft they may not even win that many games. If the team stays pretty much as is I wouldn't be surprised if they go something like 8-8 and not even make the playoffs. I still don't understand why they didn't try to get something for Edge by trading him when they had the chance. They got virtually nothing back when they lost Marshall Faulk, they got a couple guys I'd never heard of back in the John Elway trade and I don't recall but I don't think they got anything good when they traded Andre Rison either. I still can't believe they let Edge go...he was the backbone of the team. Don't get me wrong Peyton is great and no one could run the offense like he does, but look at last year. the games they lost were the games that Edge couldn't get anything going, and in the playoffs it was more a fact of they just abandoned the run and not that the Steelers were doing such a great job of stopping them. ok, [/rant] but I really hope Edge has a great year this year and I'd love to see him lead the Cards to the playoffs for the first time in I don't even know how long. LOL

alot of those calls are B.S

i mean a 300pound guy is not gunna stop on a dime when heres 2 steps from the QB
