hey guys im struggling to decide what to stock in my new and larger aquarium when i get round to placing the order in the next couple of weeks.
it will be at least 60x24x24" but it may end up being 66x24x24".
filtration will be a sump (59G) turning over 6500-8000 lph or ~1700-2100 gph, depending on pump efficiency. no canisters or HOBs.

i will be adding to my bichirs, possibly:
1 or 2 x ornate
2-4 x albino senegals.
1 x ropefish.

I need something for the top levels. I was thinking maybe:
6-8 x Chalceus Erythrurus or
6-8 x Chalceus macrolepidotus.

I wasnt thinking about another cichlid to go with my saum and midas but i think i might have room. both have great temperaments towards tankmates. maybe:

a Vieja regani,
Vieja synspila,
female festae,
jaguar (prefer female but thoughts on a male please)
Geophagus Brasiliensis
Amphilophus Lyonsi
or
salvini (would prefer something bigger but they are beautiful)

thoughts please on my short list, im like a kid in a sweet shop with too much choice to just pick one from each catagory. i think they would all fit in (by temperament i mean) but most of these i have no experience with so i need help from your experience rather than just reading.

Thanks in advance.

after some measuring after receiving the new sofas today it will be a 72x20x20, ~125G. the sump will have to be larger, 36x20x23 (lxhxw) ~71G.
new stocking ideas:

6-10 Chalceus macrolepidotus
2 senegal bichirs
2-4 ornate bichirs
cichlid option (one only):

Vieja synspila,
female festae,
jaguar (parachromis is a preference and i can only get jags)
Amphilophus Lyonsi
salvini

this list will be going with what is currently in my sig.
opinions please guys.
thanks in advance.

I've never had a bichir... will they be able to handle a large aggressive cichlid?

I guess aesthetically I would prefer a large male jaguar. That would be pretty cool to see him cruising around with the bichirs below... I think that a salvini, and the female festae might pick on the bichirs. I have a female festae and she harasses my 10" pleco constantly. I have to swap him out from tank to tank or she'd eventually kill him. My female salvini was the same way... I think larger more bulky cichlids are less likely to pick on anything that moves, but like with all cichlids it can be hit or miss.

thanks. i would love a jaguar and i was more concerned with size but i think it should be fine with no overstocking.

im going to the store tomorrow to see if they can order a parachromis loisellei and one of each of the smaller bichirs for me.
that would work out perfectly for me. im also considering a lima shovelnose.

Actually, the more fish you pack in with a single jag, the less aggression there will be.

Kinda goes for all fish lol.
