I have a 125 gal tank which is primarily peacock cichlids. I've also got a school of six congo tetras in there, and a couple catfish. I was wanting to add something different to add a bit of variety to the tank and enjoy the look of threadfin acara. However, I am unable to find much info on whether these would be good tankmates.

Anyone here pair these species before? How do they compare in aggression?

in terms of aggression threadfins are in the lower end of the scale...i would be cautious about the mix.

Went to my lfs today and they had a black calvus in stock. I liked the look of him, but came home to do some research on them first. Would this perhaps be a better choice than a threadfin? It would bring some variety to the tank, with it's different body shape and color. From what I've read, they're not horribly aggressive, but also sturdy enough that they dont take BS from other fish in the tank.
