"three new species from the Midas complex..." so these are still "Midas Cichlids"? is everyone going to have to post pics of their barred midas to determine exactly which species they have?
i'm sure that, like with the RD/Midas, most of the store-bought barred midas are a hybrid of these species, anyway.

In usually takes years between when a fish is discovered and when it's scientifically described though ... so while chanchos have been around for a while, it seems they finally got around to describing them.
So the A chancho was discovered some time ago but never recognized by science as a fish until now? That's weird...around here Chancho is a household name lol.
The debate was more along the lines of "it's a midas" "no it's not" and then the scientists have a food fight while they decide if it's just another color form of a midas or if it is actually it's own, true species. That's the part that takes a while.
