If they have been well cared for and are consistently given a good diet and good water conditions they should hit 8-10" if your lucky possibly the females 10-12"

Ime its an easy fish to give a varied diet, when I had them I fed beef heart, tilapia, market shrimp, occasional feeders, night crawlers, mine eagerly accepted a wide variety and lots of it.used pete pellets in my filters and good top of the water cover with live water sprite plants. The plants and tea water most certainly help them feel more comfortable and behave more actively.

No problem,I had them when I lived up north, I'm by no means an expert on them that's just what worked well for me .I'm sure there's a lot of people on here with a lot more exp than me

Here's what I feed my shoal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMlTNLAYG8E&feature=youtube_gdata_player

That's raw Talapia fillets cut into chunks and I supplement with NLS Jumbo Fish Formula Pellets which has great nutrients. This combination of food has raised a healthy/active shoal.

Beef heart will fill them up and fatten them up but I wouldn't recommend it as a staple.
