I can only find tank sizes for keeping 3 or 4 of these. I only want one. People are saying 40 gallons for 4, so can I do a 10 gallon for 1?

I'm not overly concerened about water quality. I'm pretty good at keeping the water healthy. I'm more concerned that the fish has enough room. Considering that it's gonna get 4-6 inches long, doesn't move except to devour something, and likes to hide in the sand day in day out. Does anyone think he'll be happy in that size tank?
