Thysochromis ansorgii

Hello all.

After shopping around today I managed to get hold of some nice looking cichlids but i cannot find any information about them. Maidenhead said they were male and female which Im again not sure about and was looking for some help on the above species as the shop wasnt 100% either!

They look almost more like a Pelmatochromis species than Thysochromis to me from that pic.

Possibly Pelmatochromis nigrofasciatus maybe? I can still only find limited info on them. I am hoping that they will breed.

P. nigrofasciatus is the most common and likely, though the body looks almost more like P. ocellifer. But I don't see the fin pattern in your pic to narrow it down. Could just be angle or lighting.

Difficult to know but I still cant find any info on either the Ansorgii, Oce or Nigro species!

Yeah, not much out there on them. A little bit on T. ansorgi, but I haven't seen them in a LFS for at least 20+ years now. Maybe have a mod move this up to the Westie folder, might get more eyes on it.
