How long would you fast a 9" Tig to get on pellets? I have one that only eats live rosys or goldfish and I know that he won't live a long life on those?

IDK about pellets. It's probably very hard and I'm dubious it'd grow well on pellets. I'd try to get it on thawed fortified fish. Should accept it in a month I'd hope.

It usually comes to what one can afford. We buy whole marine bait fish for $1/lb. Some peers buy human grade food fish. But until the fish begins accepting thawed cuisine, choosing the best feed fish may be premature. Of course, wholesome cichlids from the tropics of the size the tig can swallow or cut up in pieces should be the best. I'd still fortify them too.

I thought most marine fish contain thiaminase-B1-deficit? I lost my last one after feeding mainly silversides and I thought that may have been the problem?

I'd guess, yes. We lost a ton of fish to thiaminase outright as well as to an insufficient fortification with B1.

I'd try to get it on thawed fortified fish.
Fortified.
Any fish can contain thiaminase it seems, some more some less. It seems to depend on their nature and on the exact details of fish death. This subject needs a lot of study yet.
