I am getting a 3" tig onWednesday. I have a 75 setup for him right now. My plan is to grow him out to go in my 220 with my cichla. How long will it take to grow him to 12"?

I am getting 2 from wes. I dont think he has any more. Going to grow them to a foot and then sell one and keep one with my cichla. So psyched to get them.

75g is probably way too big for a small tigrinus like that. I like starting them off in small tanks/containers so they can find food easily.

I got one 2 weeks ago or so, hes in a 40 breeder with a steady 100 feeder guppies, I agree with shook on this they arent very bright at this size make sure the food is concentrated. BTW read some crazy stories about feeding shellfish, not a good idea apparently.

Mine came in at 3" and is now 5". I have him in a 20L and if the food isn't on the end that stays in the shadows, he never eats it. He never goes more then a few inches from the sponge filter that he hides at. JayD, I would recommend that you start weaning him off of live while he is young. It just gets harder the older they get. Mine started eating talapia in 2 days. He won't touch shrimp, though.

I hate live, and didnt want to deal with it but i got nervous when he didnt eat the first few days... once i get him going I will get him off as soon as possible.

Yeah this is what I'm doing with mine. I have him in a glass bottom tank too so he can find food. But this is what I've been told by other tig keepers.

It helps fatten them up tho when they are small. Yeah I wouldn't put them all in the same tank after bringing them home from the lps but you keep them for a bit and treat the its not all that bad for the fish. It's what they eat in the wild but all of our opinions are different.
