alright.

my tig is about 12in long, was doing great as of about 48 hours ago. late saturday night i noticed he didn't eat as much as normal and instead of sitting on the bottom like he normally does he was lazily trying to swim up the side. then yesterday afternoon/night he was swimming up the side, then over backwards, basically doing a complete loop. occasionally he would bump into one of the ATF's in the tank and swim upside down for a bit. didn't eat anything last night.

any possible thoughts on the problem? i'm hesitant to add anything to the tank (prazi pro, etc) before getting a few peoples opinions...

120gl tank with 60gl sump. tank mates of the last year or so are a couple VATF, pacman cats and a couple bichirs. haven't checked params in probably 4-5 years but i do regular water changes once a week at 50% and add prime everytime. if water params were a problem the VATF would be the first to go since they seem to be the most sensitive to chlorine/ammonia/nitrates.

This sounds really bad...at this point, it sounds like you should try treating before it's too late. Prazi Pro was a miracle drug for my tig when he was not eating and when he did he was Regurgitating, worked overnight but I don't know if you have the same issue as mine. My tig was not swimming in circles and upside down. But supposedly Prazi pro is completely safe and harmless....I just noticed this post is a few weeks old now, how did your tig turn out and did you do anything?

A tig swimmin around & around in cirlces is the 1st sign of a very distressed fish!
This is not normal behaviour.
As Taksan pointed out check all your water Parameters ASAP in particular Ammonia, Nitrite & Nitrate,.
Would be benefical to test pH as well.
Halt ALL feeding and maybe even kill the lights.
Increase Aeration if possible.

Let us know your findings
