Found this guy at the LFS, been in a vat for 2 months with Gator Gars and it shows. He is very skinny so hoping he is ready to eat soon. I put him in the 265 with my big plecos and two aros. I think it's a skinny tig, he is very blue looking, not like a Jur. Has gill curl, hopefully that can be fixed when he is healthy again. He is already eating shrimp so thats a good sign. I'm used to seeing Tig with a long flat head, do they loose that as they get bigger? I thought he was about 28" in the vat but turns out he is 24".

Paid $220 for him, to me that's a steal :)

In fact, tigs heads seem to grow longer as they age and grow.I'm not sure what this fish is but it sure looks interesting.

I don't think it is a jur,but then maybe it is and the near emaciated appearance is throwing us off.
It could be some regional variant or strain. In any case it looks like it could be an impressive fish and it is sad that it was treated so poorly.

Tell me about it, should have had its own tank

Yep and if kept in decent shape they could have gotten some good money for it.Oh well, their loss your gain and glad that you saved it.

Looks like a jur to me as well. Striping and head shape looks like a jur. Hope it pulls through. I wouldn't pay 220 for a fish in that condition personally... Could be throwing 220 away easily. But to each his own lol I'm sure it'll be worth it
