I am receiving a 220 gal. (72"x24"x30") tomorrow. It has been suggested to me that I get a tig. I've done research on both the tigrinus and the tiger shovelnose but as usual, I dont typically make a move until I confer with the MFK crowd first. Are either of these fish really suitable for this tank. It's looking like they wont. Here are the details of the setup:

2 Fluval fx5's
eco-complete substrate
DEFINITE TANKMATES:
motoro, cichla mono

POSSIBLE TANKMATES:
green terror, xingu I, odoe pike, red-tail barracuda

also, if these catfish are not suitable, any other suggestions would be more than welcome. thanks

Tig: yes
TSN:no

Tigs wont get nearly as big

Yeah a tig will be fine in that tank. They only get like 2' long which must take awhile cause you never see many that big or people just don't show them.

I have seen a TSN at the shedd aquarium that was probably just shy of 5' and easily weighed over 100 plus pounds.

So I would go with the tig.

:iagree:

I love tigs, I would definitely get one for that tank. They are great fish and beautiful too. Just give them a good current and alot of oxygen in the water and your good :D

what's the going price for a tigrinus and you wouldnt now who ships them do you?

Tig is def georgeous...I have both Tig and TSN. They have made friend to each other although my TSN is only 10" while my tig is almost 14" now.

I paid $ 300 for the Tig at 12" and $ 50 for the TSN when he was 3" long.
