What size tank do the tiger and lima shovelnose need? How fast will they grow and what do you feed them?

tiger shovelnose at an adult age will need 300+ gallons at least. Lima would be ok in like a 125or150 imo

TSN will grow really fast depending on diet The lima shovelnose takes a while to get big they dont grow as fast as a TSN.

You can feed them Feeders if your going live
Worms
Silversides
pellets
Shrimp
Anything really they would eat wet card board.

They are a hearty fish make sure you dont over the dosage on chemicals. Bottom dwellers seem to have more affect to chemicals so you should only use half the recommended dosage.

would they be ok with knife fish?

Yeah just as long as the Knife fish isnt to small to get eaten.
Anything small enough to fit in the mouth of a TSN or LIMA it will be a snack.
just make sure you have spots for the knife fish to hide in.

thanks

if you get a TSN make sure you have future plans on upgrading or selling him once he gets to big. Because a lot of people get these fish and try and pack them into a 55 gallon which is no room at all for a Fish that will get huge. And no problem that why your here haha

Think of it this way. The tsn only is the 2nd fast growing catfish next to the rtc. And it's a pretty close race...... And at the beggining of the forum about rtc growth rate. But the rsn are amaazing looking fish! Good luck.

I would get the lima in a 125. Not able to get 300 gallons. I think 125 would work though. And that would be ok for life?

Yes the lima would be fine for a while. If you wanted to keep it for life though I would recommend something with a little wider footprint. The lima can get around 18 inches or so full grown, which is the width of a standard 125. He will need just a few more inches on either side to be able to move around without getting stressed. But they do grow very slow so you would have lots of time to decide what to do.
