Tiger Barbs and African Cichlids

Would a small shoal of 6-8 Barbs fair well with African Cichlids?

I have black ruby, green, tiger, and albino barbs ( 14 total) with yellow labs and Pseudotropheus socolofi but those cichlids don't get to large. My red tailed shark chases the barbs sometimes without biting and he is still small.

Africans will rip them up...potentially. If your tank is big enough and the Africans can set up their territories, then MAYBE. I wouldnt risk it. Then again, maybe I would.

I actually just added a con to my tiger barb tank. My father in law had 3 in a tank and 2 of them were picking on the 3rd terribly. I couldn't let them kill it, and the only tank I had room in was my tiger barb tank.

Funnily enough, the barbs "adopted" him and their shoal follows him around like he's their leader.

Its only been a week, but so far so good.
