Tiger barbs and jags?

I'm planning out my tank and every thing before I stock it. I'm getting 2 jaguar cichlids but I want a little school of fish would tiger barbs be ok in a managuense tank if there's enough of them? would they be ok in hard water?

If they aren't good what would be a good schooling fish to put in a managuense tank?

It's a 55 gal 48"L 13"d 20"h right now but as they grow I'll upgrade their tank eventually I want to put them in a 180gal

The jags are going to be about 1" when I get them

I have always used silver dollars. There great.

It might work in the beginning but they will evetually look at everything else as food or something to be terrorized and and killed.

In a 55, you would not able to raise 2 jags by themselves.

+1, and god forbid they become a breeding pair... they would murder anything swimming in the tank. If you want to keep something like them I would at least start out with a 90g tank... and plan to upgrade.
