Which would be a better dither in my 55?

I currently have the 8 gold danios, and they're cute and all and very active, but I was curious if tiger barbs would be a better choice?

Thanks :)

Well I've had tiger barbs once before, but it was when I was new to fishkeeping, and they all contracted ick and died. But I've seen tanks with full grown tiger barbs and wow, what a sight... I've noticed the danios have been swimming a little lower in the water column lately which is good (means they're comfortable), but I like the striking look of the barbs... keep the opinions / experiences coming!!

What are they dithering for?

I believe if you keep the school decently large they will keep their nipping amongst themselves and not the rest of the tank stock. I'd do at least a dozen.

I think the danio's are fine, tiger barbs are too nippy IMO, while Danio's are very peaceful, but if you like them more, go for it!

Are the gold danios, giant danios? If they are regular sized I wouldn't think they would last as long.
