If I kept Tiger Barbs with my Cray, would they try to eat him when he molts? I'm not too worried about the cray eating the barbs, I just care if the cray would be safe. So does anybody know? Do you think I should give it a shot or would it put my cray in danger? BTW-My cray is a 2 inch "electric blue lobster" and yes ik thats not actually what it is. Thats what I bought it as and i dont know what it actually is. Thanks for reading!

He should be OK as long as he has a shelter or cave of some kind. "Blue lobsters" are usually mutant Procambarus alleni.

He has shelters that he likes and spends most of his time but they aren't anything that the barbs wouldn't be able to swim right up to. For the sake of argument, let's say that he will come into contact with the barbs while he's molted. Do you think they would try to eat him?

They might pick at him. Consider giving him a flat stone; he'll construct the burrow himself so that it is easily defensible.

He had a large shell that he burrowed out and stayed there all day everyday. I barely got to see him and he was the reason I got the tank. I took it out and put in two broken flower pots and while he spends most of his time digging them and defending them, I can always see him and watch his behavior. I think I would rather have him out in the open than attempt to add the barbs. Does anybody have any idea about anything else I could put with him that is either too big or too fast for him to catch that won't pick on him when he molts? I tried neon tetras...only a few are left and I'm sure he'll make quick work of them...
