tiger barbs

Hi hope im posting in the right place i am going to buy some fish for my cycled tank i am going to choose a starter fish that is hardy incase i get any spikes in the water.

I was thinking of tiger barbs would this be ok and if so can i keep other fish with these?

I have a juwel rekord 60 which is 14.27 gallons.

yeah you can keep other fish, just remember that tiger barbs are nippers and any fish with long flowing fins will be in trouble

I'ld look for danios instead. Generally hardier and cheaper.

why not have a look at all the other types of barbs available !
i have a tank just for barbs, tigers\green, golden, cherry and alius all of them have their own little quirks and its fantastic watching them shoal as they are so energetic !

other than that i have kept them with red tail sharks, larger tetra ie black widow, angels and gourami !
pretty universal fish as long as you stay away from slow long finned fish!

I decided to get 5 glow light tetra's stunning little fish just couldnt resist starting my tank offf with them.

i have another question though i have planted this aquarium and with it being my first planted tank i wondered if it is neccesary to use a plant food or just leave it to the natural cycle?

i have natural gravel no special substrate the lighting is the standard 15watt that comes in the juwel rekord aquarium. And er... i forgot the names of my plants lol but i only have 4 plants which will be plenty once they grow. Ive got a nice piece of pre boiled and soaked mopani wood in there aswell.

plants i have are 1 elodea densa,2 echinodorus tenellus, and one of them i just cant remeber doh.
