Hi,

I was looking to stock my with the hybrid Tiger Bass designed by the Americansportfish Hatchery. I contacted them too late for 2010 delivery, and left my e-mail with them last season for this season stocking.

I have not heard anything yet, so I dropped another contact to them today.

Has anyone dealt with this hatchery before? Is there any monster tiger bass keepers here on MFK?

Never heard of it but it sounds interesting..I'm guessing this the native North American bass and not the peacock bass/cichla?

Okay.I suspected it to be a hybrid of some sort.I've never even heard of the gorilla bass, but then I'm not really an angler.

essentially sounds like they bred the northern stock with the southern stock... not sure if it's technically a true hybrid or not. since the 2 fish are very similar other then their ranges. I'm sure they've evolved some different characteristics.. but it's not gonna be as far back as the Pbass/black bass hybrids you see. More like line breeding... but I'm not a genetisist either so I could be wrong.

reguardless the fish are bred for size.

The Gorilla bass was designed for sheer extreme size. It unfortunately became the LEAST DESIRABLE bass EVA!

While it was hardy in its' temperature range and immense, it would all but completely ignore fishing lures! Most that stocked the Gorilla bass paid dearly to have these oh so visible (yet un-catch-able) monsters removed from their lakes/ ponds!
