Just a quick question on these guys.

It seems to me that my tiger lobster is alot more lathargic than my other crays. I just found out that he was the only survivor in the batch from the lfs, they dont realy know much about their stock. I was wondering if maybe they are a brackish or salt water cray maybe or are they just a lazy cray by nature? He is in a fresh tank and if he needs salt water he is sol im afraid.

Please describe the lobster, I have a tiger lobster (or that's what I call it) myself and it lives in an all freshwater tank. He never comes out, he never moves, and I never see him eat, but somehow he has grown quickly and is very healthy.

I found the scientific name for my tiger lobster, it's Cherax sp. “Zebra”. If we are talking about the same lobster here's some information:
max size: 4" +claw (mines claw is another 3 inches)
Water: PH 6-7
Temp 65-80 F (20-25 C)
Substrate- sand is preferred, can have bare-bottom or gravel
Decor- provide driftwood and plants for security, add rocks too
Temperament- mine is extremely aggressive and fast, but does not move much (varies depending on crayfish)
Diet- does not like pellets, but will accept
try to feed live and frozen food
Description- black tail with white horizontal lines
blue, white claws, some specimens have fuzz on the claw
brown, white, purple body
they have some red color too
Breeding- add a male, a female and some water. :D Plants, temperature spikes, water changes, sand substrate, numerous hiding spots, and special food help encourage spawning. eggs are kept under the females tail for about 3 weeks, then they stay on the tail for another week after hatching. Remove the babies from the tank after they leave the female.

Sounds like my guy all right. Thanks.
He is definitely lethargic, even when I put him in my tank he was quite tolerant of my handling him and just layed on the glass until I pushed him in then he defended himself from the curious fish for a minute then just layed down flat on the bottom and waited until dark to go find a hiding spot.

that second one is real nice. I'm gonna get me yunna them.:D (jk w/ the spelling)
Is your tiger male or female? Mine is male.

Im not sure I never sexed it. It does not have nearly as big of claws as alot of the pictures I googled, but that doesnt necesarily mean anything though. In my opinion it is either male or female, I can say that with 100% certainty!

How do you sex a tiger lobster? Mines a diferent color/pattern than this one o and you have some nice fish dude good job.
