Have a question regarding my pair of RTM. After the last spawn the male pretty much turned my female into sushi. I was able to save her in the quarantine tank for a month and just recently added her back to the 180 divided with two holes cut so she can go back and forth. Remove the divider and within 5 minutes he's attacking her relentlessly. If she goes over to his side she's OK for a few before he attacks her again. She is just over 6" and he's just about double her size so size issue could be playing a part where she just isn't big enough for him anymore.

Is this pair done as being a pair? Should I try to find a larger female RTM and see what happens?

Why did you remove the divider? The whole idea of an incomplete divider is to allow the female to escape an overly aggressive male. When she is ready to spawn he will settle down to business. If he gets too mean again she can flee to safety. It`s not one hundred percent safe but has a very good record of success. In certain rare cases you may have to use a complete divider to keep the girl alive.

The trick is to have the best site on his side. You can also add a double flower pot (two pots siliconed together with the bottoms removed) to his side to give her more options when he gets nasty.

My RTM pair did the same thing a while back. i put a full divider in to let her heal up. after a week or so she dug under the divider and they have been fine ever since...they have spawned too. Don't worry, just put the partial divider back up.

Good Luck!!
