Tiger Oscar breeding question?

My tiger Oscars have been together for years now but have recently started what looks fighting. They go at each other mouths open wide thrashing round the tank. It gets quite messy as one jumps up and bangs the lid so don't want them to hurt themselves.

So does anyone know the mating ritual that they do and any signs to look for. I think they are male and female as they look different by the anal fin. Any help is greatly appreciated.

They will lock lips, chase each other, go round and round against each other in a circle and most evident is the tail slapping.

The male and female dig a pit or clean up an area for laying eggs.

I had fish for 6 years and took them 5 years to breed. This was in a community tank.
