Well technically, fish sometimes do "grow to the size of the tank" but that's because their growth is stunted be poor water quality and lack of swimming space which, like you said, is very bad for the fish's health, but for the OP's tank size, this won't be a problem anyway.Nyghtfire;4262185; said:Forgive me if i'm wrong.
but if you believe fish grow to the size of the tank, that is incorrect. if you already realise it's incorrect ignore me
all fish have the potential to reach there full grown size, and keeping them in a tank that is to small for there size, wether they grew up in it or not can be bad for the fishies health.
p.s. i'm also inexperienced in fish keeping, but from research i've done, from personal accounts i've heard from others etc etc.

Yeah I know, I was just pointing out that the "fish grow to the size of the tank" theory is actually not completely false like so many people think it is. And it's not just inexperienced fish keepers that think it is either; I've been keeping fish for a large portion of my life and always believed in that theory until I became a member here last year, and then I just thought it was completely wrong until I had read a few posts about it from more experienced fish keepers here a few months ago.Nyghtfire;4262226; said:as i said still an inexperienced fishkeeper, so wasn't sure as to sizing.
was just trying to politely make the point that it is potentionally bad for the fish's health to keep them in a tank that is to small for the specific fish.
Aaah, i'm not positive what i'm on about, been up for way to long due to work and family commitments, still got more to go before i can sleep...
